We strive to make studying more efficient by redefining how you prepare for the CompTIA® Security+ (SY0-501) exam. * Academics’ Choice “Smart Media” award winner * EdTech Digest “Cool Tool” award winner The Science Behind Mobile Learning: Overloading your brain with too much information at once is a common study mistake. Research has shown that smaller, more frequent study sessions are the key to knowledge retention. In other words, taking short quizzes on the go is a much more effective means of exam preparation than reading page after page in a textbook. Apps offer the benefit of interaction, which means you’re far more likely to remember a concept you engage with rather than one you’ve only read about. • Do not make in app purchase

For one, they won’t refund your money. Additionally, this app and the “500” questions are largely useless. The questions are poorly written by someone who obviously had a very surface level comprehension of cyber security. I have helped developed the cyber curriculum for the US Military and also have a degree in cyber operations. This app will not assist you in the exam. To the developer: your “tireless hours” working on these questions were worthless. Fire whoever wrote them. Some of them are actually not just poorly written, but wrong.

Not sure if all the answers are right?

App would be five stars but I’m unable to use it places I don’t get cell service. I really don’t understand why it doesn’t have an offline mode where I can just do basic things like review questions. Also when I do have service loading times seem unusually long.
  • Closes and freezes

App is a good study tool however it keeps freezing and closing out in the middle of a test. I paid for this app so it’s kinda annoying that it’s acting up :-/
  • Constant crash

This app crashes on a regular basis. It resets my progress and asks me to make an account. After the third time I obliged thinking that it was going to save my progress. Nope! My flagged questions...gone, my test histories... gone. I spent $15 for an app that crashes and can’t provide me with what it advertises. So frustrating.

Pocket prep is fantastic to keep you prepared. I used it and passed security plus!
  • Decent

The dashboard is buggy (“Question Metrics” are never correct and the “Reset Progress” never fully works), but the app is a decent “bathroom” study. While the questions look NOTHING like the real exam, they do get to the heart of a lot of different concepts. Would recommend adding failure metrics and quantitative risk assessment content. Do this for quick exams, read Darril Gibson’s book, and watch a lot of Professor Messer (free on YouTube). That’s all you need.
  • I really enjoy this :)

I love this! It should not be used as your only reference, but it provides you the ability to do quick quizzes where ever you have time. It can help you solidify some of the core concepts. Good luck to everyone:)! P.S. Even after completing the test I still use the app for quick review during down time.
  • Not even close to good prep

The SY0-501 is nothing like these questions. The questions on the exam are scenario driven. Given this data, what’s the best choice, or given this output when and what happened. Pocket prep questions aren’t even close to this. Complete waste of money.
  • Lasted update breaks app - Updated

Happily used this for weeks until the latest patch. The patch resulted in lost credentials and an inability for the app to run on my iPhone unless loading directly from the App Store using the “Open” option. Won’t save my credentials and keeps reporting that I am on the free version - not the premium version that I had been using pre update. Restore purchase doesn’t fix the issue, nor does a phone reboot. It appears that the issue resolved itself within a couple of days. I can’t now recreate the problem so I don’t know it it was the application or phone - but neither was updated prior to the issue being resolved. The app performs as expected and was a very useful tool in my personal experience. I used the daily question as well as the quick 10 questions (at least once a day). The app then kept a calculation covering each area of the exam and my overall correct percentage for each topic. I could then use those indicators to determine where to focus my studies.
