  • Sound doesn’t work

    By LifesABeach06
This service works great on our newer 4K Apple TV in our living room. However, when we try to stream through our older Apple TV in other rooms using the app on our phones or iPad, the sound cuts out after about 5 seconds and doesn’t come back till you refresh it. Even after refreshing, the sound still cuts out after about 5 seconds. Unacceptable, in my opinion,if you’re paying for a service you can only stream using the new AppleTV app! I would give this 5 stars if I could actually use it on my mobile devices... everything else about it is great! FIX THIS ISSUE AT&T/DIRECTV!!!!!
  • Doesn’t work

    Is just not working
  • DirecTV seems to be herding users to their satellite service

... because it’s hard to imagine any other reason for them to release such an abominable service. The controls are terrible. Navigation is clumsy and counterintuitive. Even streaming within an app doesn’t have the usual +30s/-5s forward/rewind that their turn of the millennium DVR and RC has. You can’t skip to the nearest 15m marker forward and backward. The buffering is poorly done, and the last minute of stream should be retained so that if you rewind -15s or even -30s the content is still cached. Swiping up should bring up additional controls but it doesn’t. In 13 years of being a customer, I would have thought that I’d have paid for the HR-44 DVR that I had paid $2200 in rental fees for, but apparently not. The reward for being a faithful customer is endless nickel and dimeing, and the ever increasing annual rate hikes. So I switched to their streaming service since I could own the meager required equipment (a $149 4K Apple TV 32GB) for less than half my previous subscription cost. But the poorly done Apple TV app, and their under-engineered streaming server deployment, are “motivators” to get everyone back into their 20th century satellite service. Who would have guessed that operating a streaming service was literally harder than rocket science? They could have used a turnkey streaming service for video (perhaps Amazon, as Netflix and Hulu have successfully done) but it was not meant to be. Maybe Amazon will start offering à la carte channel subscriptions and I can finally be free of DirecTV and their overpriced 20th century service. Until then maybe they’ll figure out that while they can’t stop the hemorrhage of subscribers, they can at least slow it down by not giving them as many powerful reasons to jump ship... starting with an improved DirecTV NOW app and infrastructure deployment.

The app doesn’t work. Stuck on spinning screen when launching.
  • Overall Good, Requested Feature

Been a subscriber since launch. Most of the bugs are out. Let’s get split screen and quad box for sports!
  • Cancelled!

With an overall rating of 2.3 it doesn’t appear that you're listening very well to your customers. On top of that, raising the prices and offering less services seems a little like not concerned too. Cancelled my DTvNow this afternoon. Oh and thanks for the parting insult from account retention offering me and ONE TIME $5.00 deduction reduction on my bill. You could have offered and free month and I still would have closed my account. Done with Directv and ATT cellular is next.
  • New “feature”...We’ll be right back

    By mkss55442
$10 price hike to keep my grandfathered package. What was $35 then $40 will now be $50. Constant updates that claim to fix things but make matters worse. Constant propaganda about them listening to us. Except they must be listening to somebody else. Obviously they don’t care if their app has a 2.3 rating with pages of 1 star reviews. As a beta tester for their own streaming box, you’re given a link to provide feedback, but there’s no way to add comments. All you can do is “vote” on feedback that others have somehow figured out how to post. Then to make matters worse, there’s no search function so you have to scroll through pages of comments to see if anyone else has reported what you want to report. Starting today, I’ve seen a page with the AT&T logo and the message “We’ll be right back” multiple times on my Roku Ultra, iPad and an Android tablet. DTVN can add that to the list of things to fix. Unfortunately, the price hikes will never stop because they have to make up revenue from customers they’ve alienated and have quit, and to recoup money they’ve paid out buying companies. The people managing and developing the DTVN app are incompetent. The people running DTVN are completely out of touch with the streaming business model and have never heard the words “cord cutter”.
  • Frequent failures

    By HopesDad
When the app works it’s great. It’s nice to be able to watch shows at any time and anywhere. The problem is the app doesn’t always work. Today I downloaded the latest updates, supposedly to “fix some bugs”, yet now it doesn’t work at all. All I get is a spinning icon at the center of the screen that never goes away.
  • Sigh...

    By Atlas303
Direct TV Now signed me out of my account, I guess because intro rate is ending. The app used to work fine on my phone. Now it will not load to sign back in. Tried reinstalling and chatting with an agent online to troubleshoot. I only get a white screen with logo and spinning wheel. So much for the idea that streaming is better. I’ll have to cancel with Direct TV and go with Sling.
  • Ugh

Just updated today and now when I go to the app, it doesn’t even work. Just shows the loading symbol in the middle and never loads with a white screen. So pointless to update for my phone.
