Nintendo Switch Parental Controls™ is a free app for smart devices to keep you engaged with your family's gaming activities on Nintendo Switch. ◆ A Nintendo Switch console with the latest available system version is required to use this app. This is recommended for people worried about things such as: 1. Is my child spending too much time playing games? 2. What kind of games is my child playing? 3. Are the games my child is playing age-appropriate? Below are three special features of the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app: 1. Monitor play time on your console. Set a play-time limit and the console will notify users that the time limit has been reached. Parents and guardians can check the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app to see if the time limit has been followed. It is also possible to suspend gameplay automatically when the play-time limit is reached. 2. Check up on your console's gameplay. The summary function allows you to easily see what games have been played on the console recently and how much time was spent playing each day. View daily reports and monthly summaries of play activity. If you choose to receive push notifications, you'll be notified when a new monthly summary is available. It's an easy way to see what kind of games your family is interested in. 3. Restrict console features. Nintendo Switch functions can be restricted to prevent the console from playing games above a certain age rating. Attention: ◆ An Internet connection is required to use this app. Cellular data may be used. A Nintendo Account (for ages 18 and up) is also required. ◆ Restrictions to Nintendo eShop purchases can be set from Nintendo Account settings. ◆ Your use of this app is subject to the Nintendo Account User Agreement available at ◆ In order to make use of all of the features and settings available in the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, all registered Nintendo Switch consoles need to be using the latest system version.

I was pleased to hear Nintendo had an app that would help me monitor and restrict my kids playtime. However it doesn’t really work. Half the time it doesn’t log time they are using. Today for example, my son was playing for over an hour when I had it set to shut off after 15 minutes. When I checked the app it said “no time logged” but I was watching him play. It logged 5 minutes of the day before and 50 minutes of the day before that so it does work....sometimes. If kids are disabling the WiFi connection to get around parental limits (not sure if that is their game but it seems a good explanation) I would like a parental control option to tell the switch to stop working till WiFi is reconnected. Related to that request, why isn’t there a parental control setting to disable the Switch unless the parent/guardian allows it through the app? I can only restrict time (down to 15 minutes) but I don’t want them to play at all till they’ve been useful (clean rooms etc.) As Nintendo aims for a younger group of players, be aware that those of us who buy these consoles want them to be rewards but when kids play despite restrictions, it defeats the purpose and annoys your real customers, the parents who hold the purses.

I read the 5 STAR review from "PARTY INTERNATIONAL" on here. Now, I'm just scratching my head and wondering what in the world is their agenda/motive for their BS review. It doesn't help sway my opinion in either direction as it's really not reviewing the app, or giving ANY kind of critique. it gives a long drawn out paragraph of what I'd say amounts to nothing but pure propaganda as it does say nice things, and uses some big words, but they are meaningless and irrelevant here as they DO NOT HELP DESCRIBE THE APP!! **** By the way, in My humble opinion this app is not too bad. Especially since it's free. That being said, it could USE more parent friendly features as others have stated, like separate settings to implement on a per child/user basis. Or making it a 100% FULL Nintendo Parental App. and adding the DS/2DS/3DS/WiiU systems. And also having DUAL parental control abilities, so parents can share the app (and the mutual responsibilities) and have it on both of their phones/devices. Thx.

It’s nice to limit hours and apps, but more specific ones would be helpful. I would also love to be able to block and/or control internet access, YouTube and netflicks. By example, you can allow are not communication in apps. I don’t mind some in game communication in a multi-user platform, but not wide open anything goes (private messaging, etc) in any app.

The ability of this app to monitor and allocate game time to my kids is extremely helpful. My son asks to do chores now to earn screen time. A++++
