I enjoy using this on top of my tutoring sessions. It is a helpful way to keep training myself with lessons I am already taking with a private tutor.

I really like this app. I just wish they would get a fix in place for the crashing issues. I don't want to keep reinstalling it and I shouldn't have to every time I need to use it. My Italian wordpower never does this.

A great app but there a number of mistakes where the displayed and spoken word don't match. Also there are a few words or phrases which have no audio.

ok, so i was a sucker and paid $300 for Rosetta stone levels 1-3 and purchased 3 beginning level russian language books. Rosetta stone teaches you to match pictures with phrases and words but doesn't tell you what it MEANS. Books tell you what phrases mean but not how they sound. This series really helped me understand elements of the language, not just speak it. I have the macbook app as well as the iphone app- both are awesome tools. Great job!
  • It's good! With some improvement, it could be great!

Of all of the many IPhone apps out there that promise to help you learn Russian vocabulary; this is the best I’ve seen so far. For those who are serious about learning Russian Vocabulary, it is worth spending $9.99 on the full version. WordPower is feature-rich. The main selling point for me is the flexibility of choosing your own active list. Standard lists are provided, but you decide which words you want to practice, and you can add/remove words from your active list whenever you want. Still, I really want to see some key improvement in places, as follows: 1. Accent marks are needed on the Russian words. Also, when the word is displayed on the screen, then the native speaker should automatically speak the word. There should be an on-off toggle setting for this feature. 2. There needs to be improved scoring to determine when a word has been learned. It is not reasonable to conclude that I “know” a word after the first time I’ve gotten it right. To really learn the word, the user should be able to get the word right a number of times, both from English to Russian, and from Russian to English. 3. There are several (minor) errors in this version. There are several places where there should be a Russian word, but it’s displaying an English or Chinese word instead. Also, I question the Russian translations for some of the English words. In a few places, the translation is wrong. In a few more cases, they pick a “valid” translation, but it wouldn’t be the most common translation for the word or phrase. 4. The vocabulary list should be based on the 1500 most common RUSSIAN words used in the RUSSIAN language. The words presented here seem to be based on an English list, and then translated into Russian. 5. When verbs are displayed, both the imperfect and perfect pairs should be presented to the screen. Even with these shortcomings, I am pleased with WordPower. This is the only Russian vocabulary-building app so-far that I like well enough to use on a regular basis.

Using this app, along with other resources, is a great way to increase one's limited vocabulary as a new language is conquered. Customer service, when needed, has been exceptional.
  • No audio

After the latest update, I have no audio for any the words. App is useless now that I can't hear the native speaker.
