Description

FINAL FANTASY Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics. Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side-view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come. This release also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time. Additional Information (reference only): ESRB Rating: E10+ with Mild Fantasy Violence and Suggestive Themes * This app is not compatible with "FINAL FANTASY (Portal Version)."

This game looks tiny, and honestly, awful on iPhone X. A full screen update would be appreciated, even if it is an in-app purchase.

It's hard to enjoy this game with a giant DPad taking up half the screen. It's bad enough to have a thumb between the screen and my eyes, I don't need this oversized DPad on the screen as well. The "choosing sound effect" is just too loud. Give the option of lowering or muting it. The remastered soundtrack is amazing, just to have it ruined by that loud sound effect. It forces me to lower the sound completely. And why isn't this widescreen? This remaster started as a widescreen game on the PSP. It may have been ported during the 4:3 iPhones, but the laziness of not updating is very strong. Feels like a simple port and cash out.

Played for an hour on the iPad. Tried to pick back up on the phone but no luck. Saves are stuck on the device for only as long as you keep the current install.

The graphics of this port are spectacular when compared to those of the original NES title. Random encounters seem to be very frequent. This is annoying because it takes forever to travel anywhere, and it becomes more about wasting your time than providing a challenge. The encounters are so frequent that Gil becomes meaningless as you rack so much up from encounter spam. With that being said, this port is a great opportunity to play FF1 with clean graphics and a touchscreen interface that works flawlessly. Thank you devs for polishing up a classic!

I still can’t figure out how to give the characters name so that I can actually play the game! So I downloaded FF2 and started playing that with no issues.
  • Too Easy

This version is way easier than the original. Level ups happen fast and eliminate half the challenge and fun of the game. Additions have also been made that don't really add to the quality of play. I was wanting a more true to the original game play. Kind of disappointing as this was one of my favorite games growing up.

Control scheme is awful. Give an option to use whichever one a player would like. The game is nearly unplayable right now.

Walking controller is super inconsistent on my iPhone 6S. Gave up after a few minutes. Waste of $7.

I went from FF on NES to (many years later) FF on iOS and it is great to play it again. Having missed out this port on other systems I am so glad to find it as an app. It is an excellent mobile game.
