i’ve turned off auto play for videos but there should also be an option to make photos static. i can barely open this app without becoming nauseous within a few seconds. why designers think this technique motivates readers to click on a link is beyond me. it drives me away from any page that uses it and it’s definitely put me on the prowl for a better news app than this.

I keep seeing Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, etc in my feed. This is not news—it’s the opposite. At any rate, there is no way to remove them from “news” sources. You are slowly killing me by forcing me to address this nonsense daily.

I love how Google News is layed out. That was why I kept it in spite of the news sources it displayed in top stories- Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, Huffington Post, Salon . . . You get the idea. The sources all had a certain slant. The other sections were good. Then came the new Google News app. Changed the layout, same slant. Now it is simply infuriating. Looking for a new news app, then I will delete Google News.

The old format had more offerings and did not force choices. I would prefer to decide what to read from a large menu and not have Google format it. Google is not Pravda.

News headings are inexplicably in spanish. I give up, and have deleted this ridiculous app.

I want to read the news, not watch videos. Ditch the YouTube version and give me an option to switch back to text based categorized headlines.
  • Rating a 1 star is too generous

Nothing like being forced to view news that only google wants you view. The older app was a lot better, where I could choose what I wanted to see. Now, I am being forced to view left leaning media or crap I am not even interested in. Even when I click to hide all articles from a news source, as soon as I reopen the app, those news source miraculously reappear. Google, if this is your business model going forward, I will go elsewhere for my browsing/email.
