Once linked, the nüvi uses your existing mobile data plan* to share information with your iPhone, including contacts, search results, favorite locations, your driving destination, and even your parking spot. With Smartphone Link, your nüvi can also access Garmin Live Services** for useful, real-time driving information. What Are Garmin Live Services? Garmin Live Services provide the most up-to-date “live” information to your Garmin navigator using your existing mobile data plan. There’s no need for an additional data connection. Some services are included when you connect to Smartphone Link. Other services within the app are available through optional paid subscriptions offering premium content and enhanced features. To receive data relevant to your location, Garmin Live Services require your current GPS location be shared with Garmin and Garmin partners. Included Live Services: • Address sharing - Send locations and online search results from your phone to your nüvi, and navigate there • Garmin Live Traffic Avoid delays and find detours with the best-in-class real-time information. Garmin Live Traffic is updated every minute and receives more than 1,000 messages every update cycle • Weather - View forecasts and current conditions • Dynamic Off-Street Parking - Find parking close to your destination, including the number of spots available and current cost • Last Mile - Remembers your parking spot and shows your destination, so you can find your way on foot and back again Premium Live Services, available for a one-time*** purchase within the app, include: • photoLive traffic cameras** Look up live photos from over 10,000 traffic cameras in the U.S. and Canada, to see traffic and weather conditions • Advanced Weather** View detailed forecasts, current conditions, and animated radar images, plus receive severe weather alerts * Contact your mobile service provider for more information about your service plan’s data and roaming rates. ** Restrictions apply. Not available in all areas. Subscriptions required. *** See for terms, conditions and limitations. Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

  • Headphones???

    By CamChain
Could not even try the app on my Garmin Zumo 390. Paired the app with my phone and my Garmin disconnects because there is no headphones. I must not understand the purpose of the app.
  • 2.9 version drops connection constantly

    By Speed13b
Ever since the 2.9 update the app constantly disconnects from the GPS...I’ve used this app for years and this is the first time I’ve experienced this, it’s very frustrating! Garmin has to correct this, in a 1 hour commute I have to reconnect the app an average of 3 times. Not good...
  • Do not buy a Garmin that requires this app for traffic

    By JoePilot31
Do not buy a Garmin that depends on this app for traffic information. Every time I turn off the GPS, I have to repeat the sync process to reconnect. Furthermore, the traffic accuracy is poor. If you own a Garmin and want reliable traffic info, it’s best to run Google Maps simultaneously with your Garmin. Shame on Garmin for not fixing this long-standing problem.
  • What wrong with rest of review

    By Deafboy2016
I think right now is perfect I see nothing wrong I like it tho
  • Awful

    By Quackman2
Terrible app, have to continually fight it so it will stay connected. Weather warnings are useless as they cover too big of a region instead of a local area, weather map is a joke, it takes forever to load regardless of internet speed and provides almost no useful information.
  • Connection problems gone

    By Bixler409
Before ver. 2.9.2, my iPhone 6s would only connect with my Garmin DriveSmart 61-lmt the first time I paired or re-paired the devices. Version 2.9.2 seems to have fixed the connection issues, at least with my phone. After downloading the new version, restarting my phone, unpairing and re-pairing my phone and Garmin, the devices now reliably connect time after time.
  • Needs improvement

    By TechConsumer
Have been a long-time user of multiple Garman GPS units including automotive and aviation, now on my second motorcycle GPS. The application clearly lacks refinement, often losing it’s link with the GPS unit, requiring a restart to enable weather and traffic data link back to the GPS.
  • 2.9.0 breaks connected services, fixed 2.9.2

    By PaulWBR
Update: Fixed in 2.9.2. I only use it for traffic and weather. For those it functions OK. I don't use other functions. Original review: My DriveAssist 51 no longer connects. It worked fine before this update. iPhone 6 (10.3.3) still connects fine as a phone, so it's not a Bluetooth issue.
  • Unpairs constantly

    By Sir Tate
Still will not stay connected to iOS services for dezl 770lmthd after update on 6-7-18
  • I don’t know what happened

    By jonezie717
I used to be able to turn my Garmin on, open the app, and it would automatically connect. But, now I have to unpair my phone EVERY TIME I want to get traffic updates. It’s very frustrating. I don’t know if it’s something in the software that updated, or what. Please fix this ASAP! Traffic updates are very important and one of the reasons I spent more money on the upgraded unit.
