Description

Dating sucks. And dating apps suck even more, right? Yes, even we know! In most dating apps, it’s difficult to form real connections. You see a profile with a few photos and a short bio, but you aren’t able to get a real sense of the person. You ghost or get ghosted because you don’t feel accountable to someone you don’t really know. On the rare occasion you end up going on a date, you are disappointed because s/he is not who you thought they were. Coffee Meets Bagel’s newest feature, Video, is our solution to creating authentic connections online... because authentic connections start with authentic sharing! HOW IT WORKS At the top of the Video section, you will see a fun prompt, which will be updated daily. Scroll through the feed to see your potential matches (we call them “Bagels”) who have answered today’s prompt. Tap the video for sound so you can hear their voice, see their mannerisms, and get more insight about their personality! Click the Bagel's thumbnail to view their full profile. See someone you like? Tap the heart icon! Once there is a match, we’ll connect you via a private chat room and provide icebreaker questions to get your conversation started. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY No point in seeing random people, right? We focus on delivering you quality Bagels. Every day at noon, you‘ll receive Bagels preselected for you by our smart algorithm. Our algorithm takes into consideration both basic criteria like age, height, religion, ethnicity, and more nuanced factors like your social network and interests. Every day, it gets smarter by learning what you like. This means that over time, your match quality will improve. CMB PREMIUM: Become a CMB Premium subscriber and get access to exclusive features that will help you save time, eliminate ghosting, and lead to more dates! With the Premium subscription, you will get insights into all of your Bagels’ chat activity levels (i.e. How likely are they to send the first message?), see when your messages to your Bagels are read, and receive more than $50 worth of in-app items that will help you get connected even faster. Current price for the CMB Premium subscription varies based on the length of your auto-renewing subscriptions and may vary from country to country. For 1-month renewals, price is $34.99 USD per pay period, for 3-month renewals, price is $74.99 USD per pay period, for 6-month renewals, price is $119.99 USD per pay period, and for annual renewals, price is $179.99 USD per pay period. Payment will be charged to your iTunes account, and your account will be charged for renewal up to 7 days before the end of the current period. Auto-renewal may be turned off at any time by going to your settings in the iTunes Store after purchase. To see full Privacy and Terms visit https://coffeemeetsbagel.com/terms. • I appreciate it

I like this app, LOVE that it keeps people from messaging you who you haven’t liked. My only complaint isn’t really the app’s fault: since it’s newer than some of the big names, I don’t think many people in my relatively-rural area are on it because I’ve gone days without matches. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So, fell your friends! 😉
  • Bad and getting worse ...

This app was already plagued by a tainted search methodology and the fact that your preferences won't save (in spite of customer service protests to the contrary) but the "video" posts has completely pushed it into the useless category. Don't waste your time or money.
  • Best of the 1000 dating site so far

I'm not the biggest fan of dating sites as some just have me sitting thinking I'm a judgmental person (CMB doesn't get a pass on this part), but CMB has actually had quality women with exceptional backgrounds pop up on my feed. That isn't number one but I've been highly impressed with looks and background. Then, somehow they have been providing me the diversity that is missing from other sites based on my background. One of the last main improvements is the video feature which is HILARIOUS and it also adds to the interaction. Genius move.. I do wish more of the attractive people posted on it though. Definitely gives you a chance to see the real person up front. Kudos to you CMB

I’ve been looking forward to new bagels every 12am, unfortunately the application disappointing ever since. The notifications never make a sound with it which makes users miss the conversation easily and now all the photos in the discover session gone...
  • Not crazy about the new update

The new update with the videos shows videos from both sexes not your preference also it won’t allow you to discover new people unless you invite friends.
  • Hate the video notification

I live in Florida and girls uploading videos live all over the place except near my location. At least show me candidate near me. It's stupid!
  • Tinder but more geared for dating.

TLDR: Quick and simple app like tinder with a more dating oriented premise you can visit a couple times a day. Has great features called photo lab to help you choose your best pictures but lacks profile customization, cannot message unless mutual like, and has a lot of premium features that are missing from the free version. Check it out but lack of profile descriptions means more based on physical chemistry rather than shared interests. 3 out of 5 “good but not great” The app works kinda like tinder, you browse a set number of potential singles and you read a bit about them, check out their pics and then like or pass. If you get a like back, you can message each other. The ability to customize your profile is pretty bare bones, you can only write a few sentences about yourself in only 3 categories so you can’t really say much about yourself. This makes it feel like I can’t get across who I am and what type of person I’m looking for. This goes for other profiles too, they’re short with few things to go on so it’s really up to how good their profile pics are. I kind of understand why they did this, I think it’s because people need to have some base level of chemistry and if they have similar interests as well it will result in a better match. I don’t feel the same way but I understand. This is supposed to be a dating app though however it feels more like a hookup app. The app does have photo lab which is a nice feature where you can choose two photos and people vote on them to see which photo is better allowing you to get feedback on your photos. And this segues to my next point. The app is free so they need to make money somehow. The app will charge you for premium features. This includes the usual stuff like more swipes in a single day, get noticed faster, stuff like that. Photo lab is a premium feature as well that uses currency called beans and these beans are used to buy the results of your photo poll as well as all other premium features. I haven’t paid for anything. I wouldn’t suggest paying for beans unless you’re serious about dating and if you are I think there are better apps you can pay for. Now for my experience. Used the app for a few weeks now. Full disclosure, I’m a guy and I’ve only had a couple of matches but they haven’t worked out. Either we weren’t compatible or they haven’t messaged back. Personally I prefer longer profiles because I don’t like to judge on looks alone. I also think that it’s more geared for looks. It feels like tinder basically. If you’re a guy then you’re in the same situation you’d be in on tinder. You’ll right swipe everything and get like a 10% response rate, probably less. I personally have better luck on OKC or Zoosk. I wouldn’t recommend it over other apps or sites though but it’s good for the photo lab and a secondary app. I give this app a 3/5. It has some cool premium features but it’s not as personal as other dating sites. Would do better as a hookup app. My score is based on the features of the app and not based on the results of my matches and I would give the same score even if I met my soulmate.

  • Rampant Catfish Problems

Every "hot" profile is an obvious catfish and CMB doesn't care at all. This has been a major problem for a looooooong time with CMB. A year ago it was so bad I quit the app out of frustration. I recently came back and I'm about ready to give up again. Veracity or other image search apps easily catch these profiles. Reporting to CMB takes real time and effort since there is no way to directly report a profile from Discover, yet CMB's responses are blasé and indifferent. Obviously, since nothing has changed; no way to directly report profiles and the catfish are as rampant as ever. So is CMB actually creating all the fake "hot" profiles? I don't know, but I wouldn't trust a single profile on CMB. Edit: After reporting a catfish profile on Saturday and being told by CMB on Monday that the person had been banned, that person popped up in the Chat section on Tuesday. This clearly is not an issue CMB cares about, but flat-out lies? Unbelievable.
  • ... seems more about making money

It this app was actually more about “finding a deeper connection” based on who you actually are interested in, wouldn’t it make sense to allow you to look at all five daily recommendations at ONCE (if you only can pick one?) I mean, that and I feel the number of means for “taking” seems like the most arbitrary number, and it’s “a lot” of beans, given you only gain gain a few beans a day through whatever various activities I’m not looking to “like” loads of people err - the concept of choosing carefully is valuable and also means people are also choosing carefully, but would be nice to be able to choose more than a couple... I was tapping around still trying to figure app out and in the process went through beans fairly quickly. And passing costs beans too? Honestly it makes no sense. 🙄 beyond “buy more means so you can do more” aka just spend money Yeah, the app totally should try and make money but 🤔
