  • すごい!!! I’m ACTUALLY learning!

    By Arinmon
The recent updates (7/17/18) are bomb btw- it makes the app that much more sophisticated and easy to use ————— Wow- I’m just so amazed- after about a month of messing around with this app I went premium and only do about 15-20min 3x a week (rarely more and sometimes even less). Its been about 4 months and I don’t know a lot but I continuously surprise myself when I end up whipping out a sentence or actually end up reading a sentence/word in a raw manga or off a package at a grocery store without actively thinking about the characters! I’m not one to be easily excited but when you hear yourself speak another language and you’re not even thinking about it- it’s honestly exciting and surprising. The mind is a wonderful work of the conscious and subconscious and this app helps to really get your working memory going. Japanese is not a natural language for most people and it doesn’t have much relation to English like Spanish does (not Castilian). There’s 3 sets of characters- all of which are written differently but have plenty of similarities in sound despite being different in meaning- and despite this added complexity I’m still learning. It’s been a dream of mine since childhood to learn Japanese- no matter how quickly or fluently it comes- I just want to learn, and I finally am! I love that self-development apps like this are becoming readily available to so many people for an affordable price. After all, so many of us are tied into so many different obligations and tasks that we hardly take time for ourselves. A few minutes each day for ourselves is almost a pittance, but we have to make an effort to help ourselves- and this app helps you do that. It requires a little bit of responsibility on your part to try and learn, but this app is fairly thorough in it’s deliverance. It’s a great addition to your daily life if you’re looking to slowly begin exploring a new language. It’s not as grammar intensive like taking classes would be, or as intense as being dunked cold into the language by living in a different country and forcing yourself to learn- it’s a slow, fluid process that comes playfully and easily. The types of tools they provide you is great and very helpful. Don’t expect to be dishing out a new language in a few months - if you’re a busy bee but play this app often enough and make it a point to use your skills whenever you can in real life, you’ll probably pick up a decent amount of conversational skills within 6-12 months depending on the complexity of the language. I’m looking forward to learning more. Japan wasn’t built in a day and I’m not rushing anything- I’m simply enjoying the process.
  • It’s okay

It’s great and all but you have to play, to be honest. To learn even more so yeah.
  • Love it

Best way to quickly improve your vocabulary
  • Too much money

I love this app and I’ve used it in the past, but it makes you pay $60 after maybe 14 words? It’s insane!! I’m not going to pay $60 for learning a language. Please make it much cheaper or even free, and until then I’ll be using a different app.
  • Take out the writing part

    By Gorgia Fox1828
The writing part makes u have the EXACT way to spell it in English . It counts as wrong if I forget to add a space in beetween and I don’t like it. I personally think they should take out that part we’re u have to write Korean words in English romanization. I know Hangul and romanization isn’t good for learning . I like that they get real people to say the words. I already know a a lot and I tapped beginner just for review and this honestly has everything u need for beginner. Great app. Learning Korean btw so fun ... 화이팅
  • Very Fluid

    By Cartagram
A well-done app! It presents multiple techniques to lean words and phrases within a lesson. There are clear-sounding male and female voices, flash cards, and a sound icon so you can quickly repeat a word or phrase, over and over if you need to. The app is visually organized, colorful, and fairly easy to navigate. I’m learning at my pace, which I really enjoy.
  • Great and can still be better.

    By Alex's.123432343
I decided to explore the all’s other languages and tried Russian and Japanese since they have different writing systems from English. What I noticed is that the emphasis on teaching you the symbols and what they are is lacking which can make it difficult to apply those symbols to words. I decided to learn the “no script” version of Japanese and learned words much easier without the hassle of learning how to read Japanese symbols. I got this other app called Learn Japanese which focuses on hiragana symbols first, then katagana symbols before even trying to learn words. It teaches you the symbols by showing you what “ka” is and what “ke” is then asks you to literally write them out. I like the idea of the app show you the word “ka” and you have to write it and see if you remember it. I’ve learn 30+ symbols in the last 4 days. Please try this method.

  • Good memorization; fun to learn

I love using memrise and the activities they have a fun and make the words stick in your brain. I left the app and stopped using it for a really long time but then came back to it and remembered all the words I had learned before. However I didn't give it 5 stars because leaning with locals and other activities that look really fun come with a membership of 60 dollars a year. I would like to say tho that getting that membership is worth it 100 percent!!💯😍❤️❤️
