You created something unique and new!" - Felix Wedel "It is more helpful than any other tool I've used. I had been using podcasts before and trying to make flashcards, and that worked pretty well. But it ended up that I was spending more time making the flashcards than studying. FluentU really solves this." - David Brown "FluentU has quickly become one of my favorite language-learning tools. Great job on an aesthetically pleasing app and an incredibly functional one." - Justin Price "This concept in FluentU is amazing. It's such a great way to help you understand a spoken language and the way you break it down is amazing." - Demi Pradolin "This app is so fun and useful - the best Chinese language learning app I've ever used." - Richard Jun PLUS SUBSCRIPTION FluentU is available as a monthly ($29.99 for Plus) or yearly subscription ($239.99 for Plus). • Wish you got more for basic subscription

It’s better than Duolingo, but barely. And too expensive for what you get. The basic subscription is really limited and to get unlimited is $240/yr which seems like a lot for what it is so far. So far the videos aren’t as immersive as advertised and are the same basic vocabulary presented like any other course. Also I have the same issue with this as I have with Duolingo, which is when the other language phrases things differently it only gives the familiar version and not the literal translation, which can be confusing when trying to build on what we’ve learned so far. For example: Je suis une femme = I am a woman But I am hungry isn’t je suis faim, it’s j’ai faim. Literally “I have hunger”, but they don’t tell you that. I took French in high school and am refreshing what I already know but I feel like if I hadn’t I’d be really confused by that. Especially since even in the vocabulary list it says “I am hungry”. So basically so it’s a really expensive Duolingo that’s slightly more accurate in pronunciation. Meh. If it doesn’t improve soon I’m not paying for it once the trial is up.

Didn’t have the app installed and it began to charge a yearly subscription which was denied multiple times until now. Now I'm trying to figure out how to cancel because I didn’t want a subscription but there’s no way to even authorize if you tried to buy anything.
  • Good app but....

The speakers sound jumbled by machine and not flowing. Videos are fine because they are authentic voices. But when words are machine generated not too good. Try for a smoother experience. Also PLEASE increase daily goal possibilities to 3,000 point daily

I have tried so many times to cancel my subscription. They make it impossible. I will get this thing cancelled! They are thieves! How else do you describe it when they keep billing and make it impossible to cancel?

I have already written a review previous to this one, but because this app and the educational content within it is so effective, a second review is more then justified. I am now on my third video of Mandarin and I am starting to notice something unique to this platform compared to other apps that offer Mandarin. FluentU seems to be endless. The videos themselves are very addicting because they are interesting besides being comprehensive in their content. The online dictionary that is connected to all their videos have separate sample sentences attached to each word that’s in the video. You press on a word within the video, a dictionary pops up with the meaning of the word and three sample sentences using that word. I have spent between 4 to 7 hours daily and the more I study the more content appears before me! It just never ends. The actors in the videos are amazing, and there is a lot of humor. For example in the video ‘Going in for a job interview’ the guy who pays the role of manager looks and sounds like a real no-nonsense boss’. It was really entertaining. These videos are divided into several parts and one must complete the homework before the app lets you go from one part to the next. In this way the app ensures that you learn the content. You are forced to study and pass several tests because you want to go to the next part of the video just to see what happens next in the story. Thank you to the team at Fluenz for all the hard work. I can see myself being subscribed for the next 7 years for sure.
  • Creating my own flashcards?

I thought I would be able to make my own flashcards more efficiently with this app, turned out it just a bank of premade, downloadable packs of cards and some video/audio content, all of that you can get for free and get more out of your learning using just classic anki and youtube. 20 buck for it is a rip off.

Dear Sir, (/or ma’am). I was unable to give your app a full 5🏅 Rating. Is there anything “wrong with it?” No. Does it have “production value”? An awful lot of it, “I” would say. Why? The DevTeam. The DevGroup. What DevGroup is this? Just look at the... oh. I could get a /botnet to do “that”, (but I won’t). I have a story... I knew a man. So at this point I could just record “my” story, and everyone would learn. Travel? Trabajo? Para mi, it suck$$! So I learned. To stop worrying. And say those words... Another town another place, Another Truck, another Race. Algún otro conjunto de cicatrices para "presumir" Некоторые другие набор ШРАМов, чтобы "похвастаться" /We.are.the.Road-Crew Don’t forget us... Sincerely, A Friend of Lemmy. P.S: I was not paid to do this. Okay, I paid myself... but that’s about it. (not. Enough) /Starving Artist
